    redirect a site

    Hi everybody,

What happen if I use a 301redirect in a supposed penalised site to a new domain name or a domain that been not used much?

What about the links of the old site and some of the ranking???

    Thanks for your help

Links will be transferred to new/redirected domain, you can use up to 5 redirects to one URL.
Rankings are another issue and in my experience they will not be transferred to redirected domain, you will see some rankings, but they won't be the same, but this is logical, because of many factors that can influence rankings of that new/redirected website.

Agree too. you had that option to redirect any sites 5 times, & even its a better choice to site owners.

    It didn't work :|
Could it be because the host is free?

It may be that the rewrite engine is not enabled.

I could not understand your point regarding using up to five redirects to one URL.

Few years ago Matt C. from G. said it is best to use up to 5 redirects (301) to one URL...(you can search that interview)
But now he is talking kinda different about this, so I guess depends for what purpose are those redirects:
