Building Significant Search Engine Traffic Will Take Time
Not All Traffic Is Equal
Consistent Posting Is Key
Consistent Traffic Is Almost Impossible
Repeat Visitors Should Be the Goal

I think these are the some basic tips that one should know while promoting a blog or a website..

May be blog commenting and back links can help get some traffic.
And one of the better ways is social bookmarking like on Digg and stumbleupon.
I am also new to this so don't know much!!

Yes you are right, but I have mentioned most important part.. Your points are good but they depend on how your commenting skill is... I mean if your english is poor you can't comment on blogs, if commented your comment will get deleted.. Social bookmarking is great but it should have interesting topic to read not repeated topic...

what do you mean by consistent posting, and why is not all traffic equal? I mean if we use adsense then does it not increase the page impression?

this makes sense, all of them are entirely correct for us to remember in order to gain huge traffic in our site but the main thing is how do we supposed to that? but there are other tips to like bookmarking which has a great impact for traffic flow.

Backlink can be more helpful to promote your blog or website. Bookmarking is also good way to promote your blog and get more traffic.

I mean post usefull posts regularly to build backlinks on forums or blogs, but donot spam. And thier is no guarantee of consistant traffic, because if you dont update your blog with new articles or with new SEO strategies then how will you get consistant traffic....

I think the most important factor is backlink. when you get baclink it will automatically help in your blog page rank.
