I was wondering, how long does it take for you to get a brand new website rank on page 1 of Google for medium and/or high competition keywords?

And what strategies do you utilize (if not highly confidential ) ?

It will take 3 to 4 months (I am not sure). Dont go for old link-building strategies. Just try it new like getting Thematic links, Guest blogging, etc.,

This all depends on your SEO efforts you are putting in.
- Submit your website to Google
- Submit your Sitemap to Google webmaster tools
- Do some on page optimization for your website
- Get quality backlinks for your website
- Build up a good social media reputation
Follow these techniques you surely will get some ranking rankings in search results.

Your website will take more time to rank # 1 in Google rather than who have old domain so it depends also on competition also.

It will take you 4-5 months with good SEO efforts. heavy link building required.

It can come on page 1 easily, too easily if the competition is medium.

Just build strong backlinks, I say again STRONG.

Create web 2.0 websites with unique content and blast those web 2.0 sites with either SB, AMR or/and Scrapebox.
Then do reverse engineering a little and sneak peak some backlinks from your competitors.
Find 2-3 auto approve blogs with high PR. and comment on their pages ( HIGH PR PAGES) manually.
Build few profiles

you can rank actually for just a couple of days but GOOGLE SANDBOX is awating , as of course obviously that site/blog that ranks in a less time is sort of spam or using a super BlackHAT technique!!! but if all your backlinks came from quality sites then you wouldn't be penalized .
