Does link exchange good good getting Google rankings?

Link exchange is the SEO technique, where one site offers links to other site in return of a reciprocal site. Web sites want more rank as Google uses the link popularity to rank the page. But today with the Google’s algorithm, the use of link exchange has preferred to stop as it can harm the sites that are involved.
Natural link exchanges are much better to use as these are fine with Google. For example, suppose I have a sports blog. I could create a section in the sidebar called “Blogs I Read”, and then link to several sports related blogs that I think have a great content. After that I can contact the blog owners and ask if they wanted to partner and link to my blog as well. The ultimate goal of this link exchange is to enable the users discover new and relevant resources, and not to manipulate search rankings.

I think no It is traditional technique, now days it is not useful for websites.

If your do link exchange ethically it will be a good source to get good page rank, if you have intentionally done link exchanging in the ring format then google will catch you and take appropriate actions on your website.

Today link exchange is a spamming activity but in the past it was the most fruitful activity of SEO

link exchange is another black hat techniques. you should avoid this techniques. you can create link from off page techniques.

nowadays this called spamming in seo a black hat technique.

Link exchange is good but you should not do reciprocal / two way link exchanges as google crawlers easily pick such links and google doesn't like such links. You should only do 3 way, 4 way link exchanges and only with your related websites/blogs.

Link Exchange:
As per Google web master guidelines it is not a good SEO practice, it will be counted as spam. It's better to build unique content with articles and pages, there we can give links, it will be bit worth.

I think link exchange doesn't work anymore, I read it in one of the SEO blogs I have visited...
