Is it a good idea from SEO point of view to buy high PR domains that are expired?

    Hello Everyone,

If you register a new domain then it might take months to get good page rank, alexa rank, moz rank, and domain authority etc. How it sounds if we buy an expired domain that already has good page rank, alexa rank, moz rank, and domain authority etc. If you can get an expired domain with good rank and authority then you might not need to waste months to get good rank. This way you will also not need to wait for months to start earning from your site. So Is it a good idea from SEO point of view to buy high PR domains that are expired? Please share your experiences and knowledge.

    Thank You

you are quite right , then you have to watch carefully to make sure such domain has not been slapped by google updates before becoming expired, if not your aim, goal and money spent on such expired domin will be a waste

OK...there are many gurus talking about this as some magic. But I have to warn you! When you buy a domain with High PR and put it up on a new server, within just week or two, the PR will drop to 0 or N/A...

Trust me, not even this will help your SEO.

These things are really possible before the Google's search engine matrix and even if it's practical, we can't predict the life span of the website. It's not a good practice, so be careful and only pick relevant ones. Whether or not they loose their ranking depends, but if they aren't indexed anymore, then their rating is probably gone. I think it hardly depends upon the domain and aftermarket process done by any SEO Consulting Services like Kreata Global, Jocolins, Meantweb etc...

Well I think it is a good idea because that domain with high pr must have good past of making back links and if we talk about the future then your site's pr will increase as long as you are good and quality link building and also following all the authenticated techniques and even in the present the pr or that site will be a very good factor for you and your work will get easy.

it works if you chose the reliable ones... i mean you really 'hand pick' those domain and look back at their backlink profile and online history... sometimes it might get 'slip away'... i mean sometime you can get high PR from 'redirect domain' amd end up getting fake PR, or camouflage PR

IT works, I have plenty of these. However, your (OP) initial premise is flawed. MOZ and Majestic metrics can climb very quickly. Typically 60 days to acquire PA above 40 and TF above 20. PR isn't relevant anymore, at least not until it is publicly updated again.

If you buy domains prior to their drop date, then PR stays. Majestic metrics will drop. Moz metrics are stable per your backlink profile.

Yes, it will definitely help, if it is not a Spamy domain, but I am not sure about till when pr can stay as some people are saying that it may be lost after moving to new server. Try with one domain because when check about whois of domain, it shows how many times it has been dropped, so I think Google can also understand this trick as they are not a dumb search engine now.

There is a huge initial investment and risk. Many of the domains backlinks will fall off the face of the Earth, and many will drop Pagerank, all the way to 0. Suddenly your $150 PR4 website investment is nothing, but if you can buy many of them and have a market to sell the links whether as homepage or blog posts, then you can make decent money.

There's a Matt Cutts video in which he says buying websites is a losing strategy. Except many people do it and sometimes it works.

You have to buy domains which are in a category similar to your domain. For instance, pet grooming and dog food.

Recently I have been looking at lists of expired domains. I notice that almost all expired PR3 and higher domains get purchased right away, a day or two after they appear on the market. That tells me this strategy works at least some of the time, otherwise many, many dollars are being wasted.
