what do you think is the best Marketing strategy for a website to follow - relying upon the search engines or relying upon the other websites ?

Successful search optimization for international markets require :-

1. professional translation of web pages,

2. registration of a domain name with a top level domain in the target market,

3. web hosting that provides a local IP address.

In most cases most of your traffic will come from the search engines. Getting links on related websites helps your site appear higher in the search engines. The highest percentage of search traffic goes to the first search result website. Most of search traffic goes to sites on the first page of search results. The closer to the number one position the more traffic you will see generally.

A marketing strategy is the result of decisions being made about how a particular product or service will be promoted to its target customers. Marketing strategies are used to increase sales, launch new products and generally provide profit for a company. Strategies involve the construction and implementation of the marketing mix. The marketing mix, which is also known as the five Ps, refers to the product, price, packaging, promotion and place or distribution.

A place or distribution marketing strategy may include selling items in a brick and mortar store as well as through a website. Or, it may involve choosing one distribution channel over the other. Selecting the right distribution strategy for a business is important as this is how the product gets to the customer.

Marketing strategies serve as the fundamental underpinning of marketing plans designed to fill market needs and reach marketing objectives.[2] Plans and objectives are generally tested for measurable results.

I think if you just want everything free, you won't succeed. You have to pay a price if you want to see success.

Marketing strategy is a way to achieve your goal efficiently and effectively. It is a long term planning to target customers and markets that are important for you in business point of view. So, basically it`s an art and science to achieve your targets that are already defined.

Don't confuse marketing methods and techniques with marketing strategies.

Methods and techniques are only effective for a certain period of time.
Strategies are timeless and will always work if they're the right strategies for your particular business.
