I think it grows with time. There was a time I put my hands in business but I wasn't ready for it and I learned it later after the business had to shut down and I had to acquire a job. Now after having some sense knocked in me I am now ready to start my business again. I think during childhood a job is more suitable as it provides you the tie for leisure and fun and there is someone senior always there to control you. Whaen you are mature enough to manage the responsibilities then business is the best.
So the conclusion: after all business is the best option.
I think that it depends upon personal preferences and interests. Some people feel relaxed and comfortable in doing jobs as it doesn't involve any risks and one doesn't need to be worried about ROI, competitors, business strategies etc. but on the other hand, some people love to take risks and enjoy more in planning business strategies, beating their competitors. It all depends upon personal interests and varies from person to person.
I think for most people nowadays a normal 9-5 job can be just as insecure as being your own boss. Many people have lost their jobs in the past year due to all the crisis stuff going on. More and more people are trying to find ways to make some extra money on the side...of course from the internet. Both bring their risks and both have their benefits.

That I can vouch for. I love my job though, and would hate to lose it, but if that happens, I would face the same dilemma. The way I see it though, is regardless of which you have, you must make provision for any eventuality. Planning ahead always works out, and sometimes helps more then you could imagine.

If you can successfully manage your own business then self owned definitely wins in my opinion. Might be more work and stress but If it pays off your quality of life could improve significantly where as with most 9-5 jobs your life sucks haha.
Agreed with Rich Kid that if one can manage one's own business then doing business is the best option as one gets more reward with more work and efforts but if one is scared and hesitates to take risks then 9 to 5 job is the best option which sucks off as well.
Obviously, the answer will be self owned business! I never like myself to be controlled by anyone else!
That's what's been my problem aswell. Imagine someone telling how to do things, but you know for a feact this person doesn't have a clue...
Always someone more or less looking over your shoulder, deadlines, people around you wearing thick masks...
My career as employee existsed mostly of cleaning up other people's mess.
Now I'm in control myself...i know what I'm doing it all for.

Self owned business is the way to go in my opinion. The profits are higher although the workload and stress can be higher, but much more rewarding in my opinion.
Self owned business. It's true you have to do all the hard work yourself but if you really are doing the hard work you can count on your business to grow. There will come a time when your hard work will pay, you can then have all the time to relax knowing you have earned it and now people are working at your orders doing all your work and bringing in the revenues. In a job one has to work 9-5 throughout life until retirement and in some cases people are even working after retirement.
Hi,
In this bad economic condition at every country, I would not prefer to start business at big level. If you have enough resources and you may run it in any condition than there is no harm in business. But it should be at low level as I told you before that at big level it is really hard to run. So, my positive response is towards job.
Now is actually a great time to start a business. It's also the time when the most small businesses start up, and the reason for most recoveries in recession times. If you haven't got a job, you're likely to waste far more time looking for a job during a recession than vs good times. During good times you'll be thinking "Why not just work for someone else? I'm making a killing over there...." and your friends will be saying "Why are you working 20 hours a day on your business, come work for XYZ and make tons of money!" and finally, if you do start a business during good times, you'll likely hemorrhage money left and right because money will be flowing in freely and you'll simply be happy with all the income.
Businesses that start during a recession are far more cash strapped and thus when good times roll around in a few years, they're ready for it. They're setup, they have costs under control, they know how to get things done, etc. Their counter parts will be tossing money out the window, late to the game, and when the next recession hits, they'll go up in flames first, because they simply don't have the skills to handle a cash strapped business.
So right now is the perfect time to start a business. In good times, work for someone else, you missed the boat. Wait until the next recession and then start a business, when you're "stuck without work" and your friends are understanding and even more supportive
when you feel angry at your boss and also selfish working partner, you will feel you want to resign asap... but then you will feel you don't have a choice if you resign your work... due to so hard to build up business, then you stuck up with that situation.. what you can do just sit and do nothing.. many people feel this way and they don't have a choice but need to stay with day job... but with a great determination inside your mind, you can slowly build up your own business even though it was so hard at the first time, rome not built in one day
Determination is important, but it takes a lot more than that.
You need to be sure of what you're going to do, you need to have a plan, you need to do a lot of research, you need to build a contact/partner list, you need traffic (and lots of it), you need to change your point of view in most aspects, you need to learn some basic business and marketing knowledge (not what you find on the net about internet marketing only), you need to be a personality, and I can go on for a few pages...
Don't think too lightly about starting a business...especially online.
It takes a lot of time, frustrations and sleepless nights...
Andre
Poor plan can harm your goal or target. You just need to stick with good plan and also manage time perfectly.i agreed that once you enter this field, you are going to feel sleepless each night.. everyday you need to learn something new
The book of this picture (chasflow quadrant, robert t kyosaki), has motivated me in thinking about my financially future . In this ESBI Pict,
E: Employee — Working for someone else.
S: Self-employed or Small business owner — Where a person owns his own job and is his own boss.
B: Business owner — A person owns a business to make money; typically where the owner's physical presence is not required.
I: Investor — Investing money in order to receive a larger income in the future.
This image also the direction for me in running a business, the difference is I'm not through the E quadrant, but I jump straight to kuadrant S.
No matter if you want to get money from I stage first , but it's better if you also have a DEADLINE, when you will leave the quadrant E, to get to the next quadrant.
and i hope it's done when i am 40
