    Website takeover HELP

    Hey people, recently purchased a pre built website that offers online flash games. Im new to the scene and have been reading into IM. Becoming familiar with it as we go but my problem today is that the site transfer went smooth and i have all cpanel details etc etc, although his advertisements are linked on the web page (amazon). Is all revenue still being claimed by his account? How can i remove them and place my ads.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The exact course of action will depend on the situation to some extent. The ads are code snippets. Your objective is to replace his code snippets with your code snippets. Is this a WordPress site? If so the editing procedure may depend on the theme used. If includes are used it may be as simple as finding the file and replacing the code in the file. If his codes are pasted into the template you will need to edit it there. If you don't know any html you may need to get some assistance or learn enough html to get the job done.

    You should be able to get to everything you need through your admin UI in your browser. In the theme I use the editor is at the bottom of the appearance section on the left sidebar of the admin UI. Click on the editor link and all the files and templates will be available from the links on the right (in my theme). You probably want the sidebar template (if the ads are in the sidebar). Amazon usually uses iframes for their ad code so you would look for an <iframe></iframe> tag set. Look at your Amazon code, it should be very similar. If it is done with an include the code for the include would look like:
    Code:
    <?php include ("amazon-ad.php"); ?>
    and there would be a file with a matching name in the file list. If that were the case you would just replace his code in the file with your code. Ads in other areas would be in an appropriate template or file.

Im currently doing some research around adsense, its annoying with always discovering new things aswell as learning and url channels and custom channels are one, Lol could you give me an example of what that exactly is please as googles info was no help. Much appreciated.

    When you are setting up your Adsense ads the screen after you pick the colors has a link for channel settings. Setting up channels allows you to test various ad positions and to instantly know what is working best for you. I have several sites so I use a code that includes the initials of the site, the section, and the ad postition. A sample of my system might look like XYZ-M-P1. That would be a big box ad in the upper left under the article title on a content page on the main site (as opposed to blog or forum or other section). In the report I can see which ad got the click, so I know what works best on that site. Testing is an important part of your advertising program. Some ad placements will work better than others and this can vary from site to site. You need to find what works best on your site so that you can maximize your income.
