What is Web 2.0 and why it's important?
It is just a buzzword. For more BS, check wikipedia:
"The term Web 2.0 is associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design,[1] and collaboration on the World Wide Web. A Web 2.0 site allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators (prosumers) of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where users (consumers) are limited to the passive viewing of content that was created for them. Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services, web applications, mashups and folksonomies."
Web 2.0 properties is important to us because Google, among others, are rewriting their algorithms and marketing strategies to incorporate social approval and activity in the results and strategy implementation. (Good example is Yahoo's leaked marketing Strategy report and Google doing everything they can to jump in to the "social media" array of products and services)
The forerunner of web 1.0. Websites before were bland and static. But these days, the sites are more interactive and multimedia rich. :-) And web 3.0 is somewhere out there... what do you expect then?
I expect Web 3.0 is going to FACTIONALIZE the web - into separate clusters. And into much more tightly-focused 'spheres' of information, places to hang out, and more controlled by influential people (Authorities and Authority Sites) within that sphere.
WHERE you hang out, WHO you interact with, WHAT you search for -- Your browser cookies and behavioral 'footprint' will start to SHUT OUT entire blocs of the internet that you've proven you're not interested in (Like 'Weight loss tips' and 'Cheap Viagra') - and you just won't even see or stumble across spheres your online behavior indicates disinterest in.
Web 1.0 was just a free-for-all (Which was GOOD for Marketers) where EVERYTHING and Everyone got thrown into a big melting pot. Web 2.0 really started to define Groups and Connections and Themes to become a true 'Global Village'. Next step: More 'Gated Communities' where the 'Nice' People don't have to hang out or be exposed to the 'Icky' people anymore... And more and more of this will happen automatically based on tracking.
if you need a correct and a brief answer, you might read about this on wikipedia. There's a good explanation. I read it before.
I use them for buffers i blast them with scaprebox then use out links on them to my site.
