I just read it in News, thats why sharng.

So the Internet Giant was Down, I wonder what are the Ups & Downs.

Yes they lost for 5mins a half million dollar ($545.000) ... but anyone knows the reason why?

LOL. Google said "No comment on what the problem was" we know don't we..... Their Penguin and Panda shut down their own servers. LOL. Wouldn't that be embarrassing.

half million dollar in 5 minutes..... they didnt care, if 5min it is offline. What you think they earn per month or per year? Anytime they need maybe to shutdown the servers for something. So they choosen maybe the right time, which they loose less amount of money....

Their other services didn't work as well for more than few minutes...

very good, we will see in next days which official information comes out for that. myself didnt noticed the offline, to much bussy in garden

I have read the news that Google was down for 5 minutes but the news nowhere talks about the half million dollar monetary loss of Google. It only talks about the loss in page views during that time.

I didn't read the number elsewhere but it does seem to be in line with Google's income history. Google's income statement from 2012 found on investors.google.com:

"We ended 2012 with a strong quarter,” said Larry Page, CEO of Google. “Revenues were up 36% year-on-year, and 8% quarter-on-quarter. And we hit $50 billion in revenues for the first time last year – not a bad achievement in just a decade and a half. In today’s multi-screen world we face tremendous opportunities as a technology company focused on user benefit. It’s an incredibly exciting time to be at Google.”

$50,000,000,000.00/366/24/12=$474,347.30 Would be their average income for 5 minutes last year. Allowing for a bit of growth and, especially, if the outage was during the time period when the major markets of Europe and North America were awake the quoted figure seems to be in line with their stated earnings. One further peek indicated that Google would increase earnings by 15% for 2013. 474 Thousand times 1.15 just happens to be 545 and change.

nice calculation and share to us all wink0r, good will be if we know which time on a day google earn the most. becasue each time have a differnt income

damn half a mill in 5 minutes! thats about what I make in like 10 years with my job

Any update on why they were offline?

What will be cost for it can you please say me.
